Single and Not Ready to Mingle

Have you ever met someone who seemed to be a great catch? Good looking, great personality, wonderful manners, an over-all good person. But wait....why are they single?

Oh no, there must be something wrong with them. Unfortunately this may be one of the first thoughts that pop up in our heads, but this isn't exactly true... well, at least not all the time. The people who we assume are already in relationships might be single simply because they're not ready to mingle.

Some singles are actively looking for a relationship while others just don't want one. This could be due to a variety of reasons whether they just got out of a relationship, going through a bad breakup, or traumatized by today's dating scene (or as I'd like to call it, the dating game). Whatever the reason, I definitely don't believe that people want to stay single forever but some people would just rather be single for now.

But beware.. being single and not ready to mingle for too long could make it even harder to take the risk of putting yourself out there and meeting new people because you've adapted to being alone. Dating requires the ability to know how to talk to people and determine what types of qualities are necessary in order for future relationships to develop. By refusing to take the step of dating people, you're not allowing yourself to gain experiences that help develop these skills.

Just to be clear, there's nothing wrong with taking a hiatus from dating. Keep in mind that this is very healthy, but try not to get too close to the point of being single and NEVER ready to mingle.
